John & Saru Sleeba Hurricane Relief

Donation protected

Dear Family and Friends,

Of the total number of people directly impacted by Hurricane Harvey, my brother John and his family can be counted as well.  His neighborhood was completely flooded, forcing his family to evacuate their home and leave all their belongings behind.  In the end, most of what they have worked so hard for was lost.  It is overwhelming to see how his family has been affected, and we are heavy-hearted to see the long road ahead. Recovering from the devastation left by Harvey will take time to process and work through, but regardless, in the meantime, the work of rebuilding and adjusting to the notion of starting over again must be pursued.

John is loved by so many and has served so many in our community, including myself.  I desire to make his burden lighter if possible.  I know many of our friends and family have reached out to inquire what can be done.  We thank you for all your love and support.  On behalf of John and his family, would you prayerfully come alongside financially in this endeavor?  There is a huge financial burden to carry, especially since flood insurance was not something they ever imagined needing and therefore didn’t have.

We are so grateful that they are safe and that God remains sovereign.  If you feel lead to do so, I know John and his family would be blessed.

Here's a recent post from my sister-in-law Saru to give you a glimpse of what they've experienced:

Here's our new reality...

Our neighborhood in Millwood (among a few others in Riverstone) got hit pretty hard with Harvey and its aftermath.  After evacuating a few times/placeson Monday, we (Luke, Cooper, John, and I) stayed with one of my very gracious coworkers (Sam) and his family.  We are now settled in at John's parents’ house.  This will be our living situation for the next few months and we are very grateful to have a safe, loving, and rent free place to stay.

It is still difficult to access our area, so we're not allowed to drive our cars through.  John went out this morning and had to walk through water to get to our house.  We had at least a foot of water throughout our one story house.  We will at least start to salvage or toss what we can today.  The tear down process will hopefully start tomorrow.

Yes, we're grateful to be alive and grateful for such loving family/friends (MICU, Fuller, church, The Fellowship, Acts 2:42 Gathering, etc).  Yes, we have so many emotions about the situation.  We, along with our neighborhood, have so much work to do over the next few months.  We have not been able to respond to everyone yet, but we appreciate all of the calls, texts, and emails.  Prayers over our finances, resources, and the journey ahead would be greatly appreciated.
