Lift Up

I am reaching out to my FaceBook family for assistance for a friend and former colleague. I am asking that you take a moment to read this and not scroll past this plea for help. As many of us know it is incredibly difficult to ask for assistance when we are down and out. And this story is no exception.

My dear friend, who I will keep anonymous, has found himself in a situation where survival is a daily struggle. He was once on top of his game and working successfully. He relocated to a new area to begin a new life and new beginnings. Unfortunately, things don’t always work out as we plan. Over the course of 3 years he is now homeless and without medical assistance. This is someone who has always provided for others in their time of need but could never ask for help when he himself needs it most. I assure you that this is not a case of someone who is not trying to help themselves or not trying to find work. He will do whatever he can to find work but as many of us know that is not always possible. What do you do when there are limited resources to assist you and you have no family to turn to when you are in need? That is why I am asking you, my family and friends, to help someone that you do not know and may never meet. This is not a situation where he let himself go spiraling down a path of addiction or reckless behavior, not that that is unworthy of assistance, because it is.

We all have choices as to who to donate assistance to and I am hoping that I can pull on your heart strings a bit for your help. I believe that the community around us provides more support and can lift us up in our time of need more than any other. It is also with the power of prayer and faith that we strive to keep going. If you could please help in any way, no amount is too small, I will be forever grateful.

I promise that your dollars will not be ill spent. They will be used to help someone in need and to help them find shelter, food, and medical assistance.
