A Bridge For My Family.

Family and friends It's James skousen and family here. I'm sure your wondering why we are reaching out to you with this gofundme thingy. Although things like this are very Uncomfortable for us, we have found ourselves in a very stressful situation and unfortunately we are having to rely on the kindness of others to help us bridge this very difficult time. A little history: I have been working down in Lake Charles Louisiana for the past 3-4 months while Sadie and the kids have stayed in Utah waiting for my soon-to-be-son Lyle to be born. Through a series of serendipitous events, I decided to take a job in Colorado to be closer to our families and to my other two boys Hunter and Hayden. This is where the hurricanes (a real one and a few proverbial ones), come into play. As I began preparing my application to Colorado I learned that it takes 8-10 weeks to get the licensing completed. It was ok at the time because my work in Louisiana told me I could work until my licensing in Colorado was ready to move. The work in Louisiana then began to slow down substantially, because of back to school, but it was still sufficient to cover our needs. Then things began to happen. Another doctor was hired to replace me and she arrived at the office but the slow period had not been anticipated prior, and Hurricane Harvey began to move through the gulf. With the two of these pending problems looming and meager work available, I had to make a decision. Through much prayer and a very strong impression, I decided I needed to leave Louisiana as soon as possible. Thankfully I listened to the spirit because I had just enough time to pack up my car overnight and begin driving east as the rains began to fall heavy and the flooding started. As I drove through Houston, the rains were coming down hard and the wind was intense. I was one of the few cars going contraflow into Houston as the rest came out... I drove out the north west side of the city as the flooding was beginning in the south. The office I was working at has been closed ever since I've left, and the decision was definitely one guided by Heavenly Father, but I've been left in a position where I have no job for six weeks and I have a little baby due within 2-3 days. I have my health insurance due tomorrow and it alone is more than what I have in my account... if left unpaid i will loose my insurance and I will have to have my son born uninsured. I have reached out to my immediate family and they have been as generous as they are able, but as many of you are aware, they are in difficult times as well. While I was reaching the end of my work in Louisiana, my landlord at the home we were renting in utah decided he needed to sell the home we were in and by breaking nearly every tenant law in the book, he effectively left my family homeless. Since then, Sadie and my children had been staying with her parents and her parents were sleeping on the floor to accommodate them. Despite being so thankful for the roof over their head, it was important to get them moved. Thankfully the Church has been a big blessing and helped us get them into a little two bedroom apartment in south Jordan but between preterm labor and near emergent moving sessions we ran out of money in me taking last minute flights home to help put out fires while work was slowing to a halt. We are now somewhat on a time island of sorts. I am working temp jobs to make due but we have all of our bills pending and behind and we are facing loosing our insurance, our vehicles, needing diapers, a bassinet for baby, etc etc. I have an excellent job in Colorado waiting for me as soon as my licensing goes through. I will be in a position to pay everyone back at 120% of their donation amount over a period of 6-8 months. Despite feeling mountains of embarrassment and a lot of fear of what we will look like to our family and friends, we are in an SOS situation and simply have no other option. We are asking for small short term loans from anyone that would be able to spare a little to help us bridge this time period as a family. We recognize that money is a sacred thing with which we all use to care for our families and any help will not only be an enormous blessing but it will help me take care of my family. Anything you can spare is more than enough and we know that not everyone can help. No loan is to small, and we truly aren't expecting anything from anyone..... we are just hoping and praying that there will be a few that could pitch in and help us. Thank you! Words can't express our gratitude to all of you. Please accept our apology for requesting so much. Sincerely, The Skousen Bunch: James & Sadie, Hunter, Noah, Hayden, Ozzy, Amelia (soon to be baby Lyle).
