Hurricane Harvey House Flood Araceli

The Rodriguez home was flooded with 3 feet of water. They are a low income family that needs to replace 80% of furniture and 50% of belongings. They fled their home on August 28th when Hurricane Harvey caused Halls Bayou to rise out of its banks. They got stranded with 100 others in a parking lot. There was not room in the rescue trucks for all, and they allowed families with small children to be rescued first. After 19 hours, and with the rescue vehicles not returning, theymade a rather dangerous drive to our house where they will be staying for the next month or two while their house dries out and is repaired. The sofas, beds, mattresses, and dressers are ruined. The water soaked through the floors so the floor needs to come up. The washer, dryer, and refrigerator got 3 feet of water and stopped working. The baby crib, blankets, toys, and books were all sopping wet and smelly with flood water.

Monetary donations will be withdrawn and given to Araceli. She will use them for house repair, appliances, furniture, and other lost items from the flood. They do not have flood insurance. They are frugal shoppers at garage sales and 2nd hand shops and can make money go a long way.

The entire house needs new floors and new drywall.
