Funeral For Donald & Rochelle Rogers

My name is Ian Overton, and Donald and Rochelle Rogers are the father and stepmother of my wife, Kesha Rogers. Kesha and I live in Houston, TX, and Donald and Rochelle lived in nearby Brookshire, TX. They drowned on August 30 in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, while driving to make a wellness check on a family member. While crossing a small bridge, rushing water pushed their truck into a flooded ditch. There were no hazard signs or barricades indicating the danger they were driving into. Donald and Rochelle were well known and loved in their community as selfless and charitable people. But they didn't have a life insurance policy or other means to cover their last respects. We are raising funds to cover the expenses of a double funeral, which is made even more difficult since we are also dealing with the costly effects of the hurricane in our ability to work, etc.
My wife and I went to go check on her dad and stepmom on August 29, once the rain stopped. We took this photo together. Rochelle and Donald are in front, Kesha and I are in back.
Their funerals are scheduled for September 9 in Simonton, TX. The funds raised here will all be spent on the logistics for their burial. That includes preparing them for burial, buying a double casket (so they can be buried together), buying a burial plot, buying a headstone, and also everything related to the funeral itself that isn't otherwise donated. Once the flood water recedes, we also need to hire a towing service to remove their truck from the ditch.
Some needs are being covered by the church communities of our families, and some by family members themselves, and some by us directly. But this is not enough to cover everything, which is why we set up this GoFundMe. Funds will be withdrawn as needed to cover these expenses, and I will keep you updated on these expenditures.
