Chelsea Hotchkiss

In July my incredible 27 year old daughter, Chelsea, was diagnosed with brain cancer. She will have brain surgery on Monday, September 11th. The surgery is typically 6 hours and she will be awake for some of it so that when they are trying to remove tumor they do not cut into the sensory or motor areas of her brain. They will not be able to remove all of the tumor without compromising sensory function so more is needed. There will be a 3-4 week period of healing before chemo and radiation begin for six weeks. Then her body will need another 3-4 weeks to heal before additional rounds of chemo to get as much of this tumor destroyed as possible. At this time we anticipate Chelsea will be out of work for 5-6 months. I will also miss a large amount of work as I need to be by her side during this healing journey. (Where else would a mom be?) We need financial assistance to pay rent, utilities, buy food, etc. Chelsea has good insurance but we just don't know how high the medical bills will go. It is likely we will have high medical expenses as well. It is hard to ask for this huge amount of money but I have been encouraged to put my pride aside and humbly accept help from those who wish to give it. If you are able to give financially please know we will be forever grateful. If you cannot, that is okay. We welcome love, positive energy, or prayers. We believe she will come out the other side stronger and wiser. We envision her living a full and rich life, well into the future.
