First, I am a widowed mom of 3 beautiful girls. I have twin 16 year old girls who are still home with me. My oldest girl is 26 and on her own - she is an amazing young lady even though she lost her dad when she was 13 and helped me raise the then 3 year old twins.
I am, so far, a 2 cancer survivor. I am 5 years ovarian cancer free. Then my second fight with cancer came 2 years ago, when they found a malignant polyp. That was removed, and I am so far 2 years clear of colon cancer. Then last week my world was shaken with news of a thrid cancer - invasive malignant melanoma. I had 2 spots removed - one was that, the other was spindle cell. I went back Tuesday and they removed 2 more suspicious spots for which I am awaiting results, with more spots to be removed. I am scheduled for surgery October 18- they will be removing a part of my calf down to the muscle and have to be off work for 2 weeks with my feet elevated. I am a registered nurse- I have been taking care of others for 15 years now. THat will be 2 weeks without pay.
If you see my picture, I finally, after taking care of an ill husband for years before he passed, and taking care of kids, getting through nursing school, etc, decided to take care of myself. I went through gastric bypass surgery last year and have lost 220 pounds so far. But the damage is done.... I need a hip replacement immediately, with both knees in the future as well. I have to have the excess skin removed before I can have the hip replacement. We are in the process of getting that scheduled. But I will be off work an additional 12 weeks to recover from the skin and hip surgeries - I am trying to get them done during the same time off. That is where you come in. I have no more funds available to survive with no income for 12 weeks, and the 2 weeks off this month is going to put me behind in bills. I live paycheck to paycheck raising my girls on my own. My parents have helped, but I don't want to deplete their retirement funds which isn't much.
I hate asking for money, as I have always worked hard to pay bills and help my girls do their school and extra-curricular activities. We haven't had a true vacation in years. I have had a pretty crappy life since my husband was sick and passed away. I dug out from bankruptcy after he died and I was left with over $500K in medical bills. I am paying for a car I no longer have due to an accident and the GAP insurance won't do their part and pay off that car that we had for 2 weeks before being totaled. I won't go into all I am dealing with having twins teenage girls. BUt if you have teen girls.... you have a general idea! Being a single mom, it's been hard to do it all, but with God, I have always gotten through. But my faith is starting to crumble. I am tired... I can't work more hours beforehand, as I have appointments as do my girls (one twin just had emergency gall bladder surgery 2 days ago, for which I had to use my last bit of time off). I make crafts and have an etsy store for extra money, but that is always hit and miss. This is where you come in.
I have to have these surgeries. I have to remain alive for my girls - I am all they have left. So I have to be off work for these surgeries. The most urgent need is to cover bills the end of this month as I will be without 2 weeks of pay, plus will be getting medical bills in. Once surgery is planned for the other, I will update, and can work towards that goal. I am hoping for $5K this month to get caught up and pay my bills this month. THe rest is for my big surgery. Anything above and beyond will pay off the debt and student loans I have from nursing school and life the last few months.
Mosney is a huge help. But prayers are greay appreciated as well!!
Thank you for your time and for any help you are able to give. You truly are angels in my eyes!
