Hand Sanitizer For Zimbabwe Hospital

Donation protected
On August 9th, we arrived at the Harare Children's Hospital in Zimbabwe to offer help as volunteers. We noticed that doctors and nurses frequently remark that it's hard to keep their hands clean. They have to unscrew fragile glass bottles filled with methylated spirits, and then pour the liquid on their hands. Even when used properly, this process causes huge delays in patient care. On busy days, however, hand sanitation becomes a forgotten process altogether.

To stop the spread of disease, we installed five hand sanitizer dispensers in the Emergency Room. They spray a mist of alcohol with a quick push. Doctors, nurses, and parents are loving them! The maintenance team is trained on installation and refill. Each unit costs $14, and administrators would like 100 more units throughout the entire children's hospital. The units will be refilled with bulk hand sanitizer already available in the pharmacy's storerooms.

With your help, we can bring clean hands to the rest of the medical professionals in the country's largest pediatric hospital.
