My Son

Hands down, this is the hardest thing I have ever had to try to grasp in my life. My wonderful son, Sean, has struggled with depression since puberty. He is now only 16 years old.
Sean attempted to take his own life in December. I had no choice but to admit him to a behavioral health facility, then ongoing counseling and therapy, both of which I have been involved in. He was evaluated and placed on anti-depression medication. Nothing has helped. In fact, some days it seems the actions I felt I had to take have made things worse.
Sean does not have a constant male role model in his life to offer guidance. As a single mother of Sean and his younger sister Kate, I must keep my nose to the grindstone in order to make ends meet. I am desperate to find a solution that will help Sean to realize that the world is a great big wonderful place to be in. I have looked for different programs to get involved in and have found a place that does a 7-week program where Sean could be in a supervised setting, out in the wilderness, where he learns coping skills to be a more independent young man. This program will help Sean recognize some of the mistakes that have lead him to this low point, show him how he is able to overcome challenges that life brings, build his confidence to face them head on, and provide him with additional life skills of survival. The program includes group therapy, one-on-one lessons and a different approach to helping troubled teens see the good in themselves. Unfortunately, insurance does not cover any of the program. I have qualified for a grant of $7,250 and I’m praying that another non-profit company matches it. The program cost is $30,000.
I know this is a difficult time for everyone. Any donation would be appreciated so much. I have tried other, less expensive avenues to no avail. Sean is not a troublemaker. He is a very sweet, kind and considerate person.
Please consider helping this wonderful young man find himself, he is too much of a great person to lose. His sister and I love him so much.
Thank you. https://www.anasazi.org/
