Help baby “M”

Donation protected
On May 14th Kelsey and Reggies life was changed forever after receiving a phone call from the doctor. They had been living on cloud 9 for the previous 3 months after finding out they would be welcoming their first baby - a boy! - into the world in October. It was everything they had dreamed about for years. A week later, while meeting with specialists in Maternal Fetal Medicine, they learned their little one had Myelomeningocele Spina Bifida. Spina Bifida occurs within the first 3 weeks of fetal development and its true cause is still very much unknown. It presents in 1 of 3 ways, with Myelomeningocele being the most severe. Baby M’s spinal column had not fully closed during development creating a space between vertebrae where his spinal cord was protruding into a fluid filled sac on the outside of his body. After having a fetal MRI and meeting with a neurosurgeon at Massachusetts General Hospital, they learned that baby M’s L4 and L5 vertebrae and sacrum were the effected regions. Unfortunately, the true impacts are not able to be determined until birth, and many will still be unknown throughout his early life, but it is expected he will see some physical affects.
Baby M will be delivered via c-section at Massachusetts General Hospital on October 7th at 38 weeks. Only a few days after birth, Baby M will have spinal surgery where they will open up the sac to drain fluid and cover his spinal cord. Unfortunately, due to the severity of his condition, baby M will be spending the first few weeks of his life in the NICU at Massachusetts General where he will be in the best hands possible. It is our hope that with the help of friends, family, and coworkers, Kelsey and Reggie can be as close to their little one as possible. The purpose of this fundraiser is to help alleviate costs of lodging, food, time out of work, and the many unexpected expenses that occur in situations such as this so that Kelsey and Reggie are able to focus all their time and energy on their son.
Any and every donation, share, prayer, and kind word is appreciated during this time ❤️
