Goldie Oliver's Recovery and Rehab

I'm typing this for my mom, Goldie, because she's unable to use her left hand due to multiple sclerosis, and she broke her right shoulder in a fall on Monday September 9th, 2013. We made a trip to Hillcrest hospital immediately and begged them to admit her because even though it's a broken shoulder, it's insurmountably hard when you can't even walk much less feed yourself or use the toilet alone. They hesitantly allowed her to stay one night and then discharged her the next day. At first we were very optimistic, despite being discouraged that there was nothing they could do for us. We went home that night and tried to make her as comfortable as possible, but with it being just me and my 88 year old grandpa actually LIVING in the house, we can't lift her. Even with the help of two friends of mine who are an occupational therapist and a registered nurse, respectively, we couldn't lift her effectively from chair to wheelchair, and wheelchair to toilet, and to bed to change diaper, and back to wheelchair. In attempting to, we further hurt her shoulder, and realized we can't handle this, she can't have home care because she can't do anything for herself and needs care in a dedicated facility to heal, at least until she can feed herself and use the toilet herself, which, for this bone to heal, could be four to six weeks, so we then went to St John hospital via ambulance and thought she would somehow qualify for some of the programs, but she doesn't. I'm starting this gofundme to pay for the recovery and rehab care she needs, because we've explored every avenue.... I'm her only child and I live with her dad, my grandpa, and during the day she would come over and care for him while I work, but now she too needs care...overnight our lives have been turned upside down. ANYTHING is appreciated. We honestly don't know how much we 'need' but the cost for care for this kind of thing for the uninsured is so very much that anything will help, anything at all! any time!
