Support for Nicolas A. Burgio

About a month ago, days after his 3rd birthday my younger brother Nicolas A. Burgio received a check-up at the hospital after he was feeling under the weather, for a few weeks prior. After multiple trips to the doctor, as well as different opinions during those few weeks, and him being diagnosed with something "viral", something just didn't seem right as his illness continued. Finally, after being seen most recently by the team at Connecticut Children's Medical Center, a proper diagnosis was configured. Nicolas was found to have a massive tumor in his back via cat scan. After further analyses, Nicolas was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma cancer being found surrounding major arteries as well as in his bone marrow. The team at Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford is wonderful and with the help of everyone's support, prayers, and positivity I know my brother can beat this battle upon him. It will be an extensive, intense journey for my little brother but he has the support, faith, and medical expertise to aid him along the way. During the past month Nicolas has been staying at the hospital overnight, for several nights or more at a time, quite frequently and making trips weekly when he has been back home. His plan of treatment consists of chemotherapy for the next year, medication for a year after that, and over the course of that time as long as all goes well with shrinking and removing his tumors as we expect, Nicolas will be eligible for a stem cell transplant procedure which will take place in Boston. His first step in the procedure will take place soon as he has a consultation appointment this upcoming week. On behalf of my Dad, Robert Sr., his fiancé and Nicolas' mother, Michele Kasparian, my brother Domenic, and the rest of our family, friends, and loved ones of whom this is all affecting, everyone's support and prayers are greatly appreciated.
