Hope For Gus

Gus. The the six year old dog that is loved by so many! He is truly heaven sent! He is the most chill, and loving pup you will ever meet! If we could wrap him up in a burrito and take him everywhere with us we would.. but he's way too big (93 pound of polar bear). Here comes the messed up part-- On August 16, 2017, what was supposed to be just a regular check up turned into our worst nightmare. Our vet was very concerned that all his major lymph nodes were larger than normal. (I knew something wasn't right in the past few days as he was extremely lethargic and not his happy self). The vet at Harry Sachs Crestview Clinic diagnosed him with lymphoma cancer on the spot, but said we should go see an oncologist to confirm. The specialist and staff at Hope Veterinary Specialists have been amazing since diagnosing him with Stage 3 lymphoma. We wondered if treatment was realistic? Were we doing it for us, or for the dog? Are we being greedy at this point? I've been kissing him countless times and trying to lock his smell into my memory because He could be gone tomorrow. Why did this happen to such an innocent creature? If we let the cancer take over, and let him live out his days the vet said he may have 2 months max. With middle ground treatment it would give him 6 months to a year or longer (praying for a miracle). 15 weeks total -- chemo every 3 weeks equals a total of $2,000 out of pocket. We don't care if you give ten cents or nothing at all. We just want to keep Gus happy and comfortable in his short time here on earth. Thank you from the bottom of hearts!
