Dylan Buffington, On Two Feet Again

My nephew Dylan is one amazing young man. He has had struggles like any 15 year old; school, grades, friends etc. While some kids his age might get into trouble with illegal distractions, Dylan developed a love for playing football and showed real talent. The 2016 season began with much anticipation, but it was short lived. Dylan and his family were in a car accident on December 18, 2016 that left Dylan with a broken leg and on crutches until May. In June, he went down with a complete tare to his ACL. Great way to start the summer! On August 3, 2017, Dylan went to the hospital for ACL replacement surgery and ready to put all the injuries behind him. Once home Dylan's post op seemed to be going normally. He complained of pain and some breathing difficulties. Dylan went to his schedule post op appointment with orthopedist on August 14. Doctor listened to Dylan's chest and told his mother (my sister) to take him directly to the ER. The ER doctor found he had bilateral pulmonary edema (blood clots) in his leg and pneumonia in his lungs. Dylan was transferred to Children's Hospital ICU where they found more clots in his leg that required surgery. It took doctors 3-4 hours for doctor to remove the large clot in thigh and went in a second time to brake up smaller clots and take Dylan off the ventilator. Praise God, Dylan is stable now and steadily improving. We are all so grateful for all the doctors and staff at Children's Hospital of Jacksonville!! I am asking for donations to help with the astronomical medical bills they will be receiving. Dylan's mom works tirelessly as a realtor and small business owner to keep their family afloat. His father is disabled with a rare bone calcification disease that is slowly fusing his spine. Please help if you can, these are good people! God bless!!
