Help Gina Save Truman

Donation protected
On Monday my dog Truman, a 7.5 year old Australian Cattle Dog / Queensland Heeler, seemed to be walking strangely. I called South Davis vet and rushed him right in. They took his blood levels and showed that his red blood cell count with at 9% when it should be around 37%. They do blood transfusions if a dog is below 20%. They told me I needed to transfer him to UC Davis teaching Hospital immediately. I carried him to the car as he could no longer walk. It was a struggle, (he weighs 50lbs) and drove him to the hospital. When we got there, he couldn't walk at all and I had to carry him all the way up. They said he needed an immediate blood transfusion. They did some assessments and let me know that night I was looking at needing to pay around $1,200 for them to continue care for him as that was half of their high estimate. I gave them $600 that night and another $600 in the morning. He received the transfusions and he perked up but the next morning and ultrasound showed a mass in his upper GI tract. The mass is treatable, removable with surgery but to do the surgery they have a high estimate of $14,000 for blood transfusions scoping surgery before and after care as well as keeping him host at the Intensive Care at the hospital. They need me to put down all of their low estimate which is $8,000. I attempted to apply for Care Credit but was denied so instead I've gotten loans from friends and started to do some fundraising with which I have been able to raise about $2,500. My dog is completely savable and at around 8 years old has a long life ahead of him. His prognosis is good. I have very little emotional support in my household as I am the only animal lover but some people understand the kind of love I have for a pet that is more like a family member. There's a long road ahead for Truman but he is savable and if I lose him I want it to be in the full scope of the knowledge that I did everything possible to save him. Please help me do this & give him his best chance. That's exactly what he's done for me. Truman was abandoned on a ranch 6 years ago and was roaming near a friend's property for over a year without being fed or cared for. I originally went to go get him to foster him until we could find a better place but after treating him for fleas getting him fixed and healthy, it was obvious that I was going to take responsibility for him for the rest of his life. I run a child care in Davis and he is the perfect daycare doggie. He lets children crawl all over him and he loves it. They pull his ears and poke at him and it only makes him smile and nudge them with his head in the hopes of getting more pets more pokes and more pulls. Last Thursday was the 6-year anniversary of Truman's adoption day and Monday he got sick although it looks as though he was sick for a while but not showing symptoms based on his blood levels. The surgery he needs is to go into his intestines with a scope/camera, find the mass, cut it out and repair the intestines. How much money is a pets life worth? As a child I was forced to just let my pets die if they got sick. We usually couldn't even afford to euthanize them or take them to the vet. I promised myself that I wouldn't own a pet in my adult life unless I could afford to care for it and I thought that I could. I never anticipated this level of that bill or the fact that they would need half of it in advance. I'm hoping Truman can have surgery ASAP. I will make updates every step of the way on here of our progress and upload a video from visiting with him last night. Anything helps there's no such thing as too little or too late. I'm so grateful for the help I've received already thank you for even considering my dog (someone else's dog) worth helping.
