Hello Friends and Family,
As you may know our little brother Jeremiah Acevedo was diagnosed with Autism when he was just 2 and a half years old. As a family we took it pretty hard; we had so many questions and much to learn. Autism for every child is different so we still do not know exactly what the future holds for us.
Since then we have been using resources that provide services to fit Jeremiah's needs. As you might already know some of these programs can be costly. He is 9 years old now. Although he is not fully verbal, Jeremiah has shown improvement in many areas where we were told he wouldn't succeed. What he lacks in some areas he supersedes in others. Jeremiah loves to sing, SWIM, watch disney movies on his iPad, collect (and organize) movie charactors. He LOVES to go to BJ's with our mother to get his favorite types of snacks (HOT FRIES) ! Each day we are learning something about him and even OURSELVES. With continuous prayer and blessings from God we believe Jeremiah will EXCEL in everything he puts his mind to.
We have recently discovered that surfing is being used as a form of therapy. This non-profit organization SURF 4 DEM provides children with the potential to improve their social interactions, motor skills, speech, discipline and patience. There are many testimonies written by families about the progress their children have made since beginning with SURF 4 DEM.
Our hope is that this Surfing clinic will somehow complete the puzzle that is Jeremiah's life.
Donations will go to taking Jeremiah to Surf 4 DEM in Puerto Rico May 9-18th. Half of what is remaining will be given to SURF 4 DEM so that they can continue to support families that cannot afford to pay. The rest will be donated to The Bridge Center in Bridgewater, MA.
If you cannot donate PLEASE PRAY for Jeremiah and his continued growth. God is shows us everyday that he hears our prayers.
