Our best friend James needs help. It's an emergency.
In some sort of a freak-nightmare that you only see in movies and think could never happen to you, the system has collapsed around him. Jamie urgently needs medical treatment because his spinal fluid is leaking after three surgeries in Kenya went wrong.
The first one left a hole in his spinal cord membrane which means the spinal fluid is leaking out under his skin. The second surgery was done to fix the spinal leaks but one was missed.
The third surgery was to try and put a drain to his back so that the fluid could be collected in a bag instead, unfortunately, this was not successful. Due to the pressure and the draining of the fluid Jamie is experiencing constant dizziness, blackouts, migraines, and seizures - the time is of the essence.
When he went to the hospital last week for a 'final' surgery to fix his back, he was denied because his insurance refused to pay the full amount. He lost his job (which covered the insurance) as this has been ongoing since July and he has been unable to perform. A hellish chain reaction.
Without insurance, all further surgeries and post-care will have to be covered personally.
Partly, because now, no insurance will accept him with his pre-condition. We are raising money to get him to the UK for specialist treatment.Every penny counts. Every minute counts - because Jamie is literally leaking spinal fluid from his back this second...
You see, Jamie is the kindest, most generous, life-loving human being. He's a loving husband to his high school sweetheart Sophia, a wonderful father to two little girls, he was the best man at our wedding.
We are so damn lucky to call him our best friend and soulmate. If you haven't bought Christmas presents yet - here's your chance to make a real impact.
Whatever you can spare, please donate.
ALL proceeds will go towards Jamie's treatment and post-care, which will be a long process and keep him out of work for a couple of months.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Jamie, Sophia, Karl, Pippa, Darrell & JulesWe are raising a total of approximately 4m Kenyan Shillings / £30,000 to cover for the surgery and post-care treatment for Jamie. We are not sure what the sum total will be, but this is the best estimate we were able to get to.
