Help For Fidel

Donation protected
On July 29th, 2017 Fidel and a few of his friends went on a Santa Monica trip. It was a normal day on the beach, but a few hours in, he said that he had a headache. Nothing was thought of it until he started acting strange (eyes rolling back, unclear speech, and vomiting). Of course, the lifeguard was called over and that led to the paramedics coming. Fidel was eventually admitted to a local Santa Monica hospital for a possible seizure, but they couldn't know for sure until a CT scan was performed. It was from there when they came to the diagnosis that it wasn't a seizure, but a brain hemorrhage. They immediately transferred him to UCLA Medical Center where he is still at currently in the ICU. The hemorrhage was caused by an Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM), which is a tangle of abnormal, or weak blood vessels that are supposed to circulate blood. This is very rare and doesn't usually show any signs until it is too late and bursts. The doctors have been draining blood from his brain to relieve pressure for almost two weeks and have taken the draining tubs out yesterday (August 10th, 2017) which is an amazing step but he is still being closely monitored. He is making great improvement, getting his speech back, eating again and walking. We don't know how much longer he will be there or what will happen next but hopefully this fund page can help his parents in some way with the heavy medical expenses that add up for every second he is in the hospital. He is a recent graduate from El Capitan High School, only 18 years old. He was accepted in to SDSU which is where he plans on going once he has fully recovered. Being that he lives in San Diego his mom is staying up in LA with him never leaving his side which is causing her to miss work. This will inevitably make it a little more difficult to cover medical costs let alone pay for college tuition. Anything helps, a donation or even a repost. Thank you. Updates will be posted.
