Dakota Jean Longe

The call no parent ever wants to make to 911 went out Thursday, September 5, 2013 to have Dakota Jean Longe - just 3 weeks old - picked up for shallow breathing and cold skin. She was raced to Fletcher Allen where they determined on Friday that they believed she suffered a heart attack and that she needed to be airlifted to Boston Children's Hospital for immediate heart surgery. Roger, Erica and Brooke (twin sister) came home to pack and head to Boston to be there when Dakota arrived. Roger's parents, Deb and Bryce and Erica's Mom, Diane and best friend Caroline also arrived to make the trip to Boston to support Roger and Erica. As their cars left the driveway our hearts just dropped and all we could do is pray for the best! As it turns out after several tests and invasive procedures Dakota did not suffer a heart attack - but that half of her heart is indeed weaker than the other half. So now more tests need to be done to figure out what is going on. And while they are in Boston to see Dakota through all of this... they also have her twin sister Brooke to care for. I have created this page, with their consent, to help do whatever we can to support and/or help them through this very difficult time. Both Erica and Roger have helped so many of thier friends and community members in times of need and I am hoping they can receive the same kindness now. Any funds received will be used for medical expenses, travel expenses, lodging and food. The Longe/Duggento Families thank each and every one of you!
