Michael Martinez and family fund

Michael Martinez was given the gift of life in the wee hours of September 7th. He suffers from cystic fibrosis, and at only 9 years old, he needed new lungs. A family graciously donated their child's lungs so Michael could finally breathe. His family made the difficult decision to go through with transplant and they also donated some of his airway cells to research.

Michael is doing well and he is in awe of the feel of filling his air with lungs. His family cannot wait to see him play outside, and run like a normal child should. In the mean time, he and his mother must stay at the hospital during his recovery. His father must take time off from work to care for his three siblings in another state. Michael and his mother are in Pennsylvania and his family is in Virginia.
