Several years ago, I was accepted into the graduate program for creative writing at the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poets in Boulder, Colorado. Due to financial reasons, I did not attend. While I have no regrets, nor do I feel cheated by any means, I would like to turn the idea of studying under an MFA program into a reality. Fortunately enough, I was notified just two weeks ago of my acceptance into another MFA program for Creative Writing, this time through Oregon State University's Cascades Campus in Bend, Oregon. You can check out the program here.
I would like to be able to register for my first term this winter, which begins December 6th, as the fall deadline is too near. Below is a layout of costs for the initial 23 credits (of 60 total credits over the course of a 2-year program).
Winter: $3888 tuition + 185 fees
Spring: $3888 tuition + 185 feesSummer: $2105 tuition + 54 fees
One time matriculation fee: $300
Course fees, books, living expenses: $5000
Total estimated costs: $13446
In conjunction with attending the MFA program, I will also be working on my first book of poetry. Publishing costs are yet to be determined, but should be somewhere around $5000... another GoFundMe or Kickstarter campaign to launch in the near future!
