If you've made it to this page then you probably all ready know all about my buddy Mike and what he has been through the past couple years with his battle with cancer. Mike is a fighter and has battled hard and beat cancer.
Now, someone else has to fight. Mike's newborn baby girl Arielle. Arielle was born with not 1 rare genetic heart defect, but 2. She has Hypoplastic left heart syndrome, something that effects 1 out of every 4,344 newborn births. If that wasn't enough, she also has Truncus arteriosus, both heart defects on their own are a tough battle let alone both at the same time. Arielle will need multiple surgeries before she is even two months old in hopes of repairing what is missing in her heart, as well as keeping valves open in order to allow her heart to pump the proper types of blood through her body.
As of right now, Mike, Tanya and Arielle are at the Ronald Macdonald House in Alberta and are on the heart transplant list waiting for a suitable donor. As you can imagine this is putting a strain on them as parents worried about their little girl, as well as the strain of medical costs and daily bills back here in Saskatoon.
