Save Black Dragon!

Black Dragon Tattoo, Shreveports oldest and longest continually running tattoo studio, needs your help!

In 1972, Black Dragon was started as a small tattoo studio. This was decades before the tattoo industry would rise to the popularity it enjoys now with t.v. shows and clothing lines dedicated to it wherever you turn. Black Dragon started small, but through dedication, an ever growing list of satisfied customers, and a devotion to rigid standards it became THE name for tattoos in Northwest Louisiana.

Now we're calling on that list of satisfied customers for help.

Sadly the shops founder passed at beginning of this year. He was a great man who taught us everything we know about the tattoo industry. We can think of no better way to honor him than to make sure the shop he left us keeps on going strong for years to come. And the only way we can see to do that is to move.

The economic situation that's plaguing so many of us has hurt Black Dragon as well. You see, our current location isn't in one of the best parts of town. Like so many areas before it, the economic conditions have hit the area hard causing an increase in crime and poverty. We've gone from doing 5 or 10 tattoos a day to being glad to do 2 or 3. The Hearne Ave. corridor that has treated us so well for 15 years has become a ghost town where people are afraid to go.

So Black Dragon is moving. We've paid our deposits and secured the building. We were lucky to stumble across a location that is absolutely fantastic in the 3500 block of Youree Drive and are set to move by November. Everything is all systems go and we're so excited we can't see straight. But money is tight so we can't do everything we need to do for the move. That's why you're reading this.

We are going to need to advertise like crazy. We need supplies to finish out the new shop and make it look great. We have an apprentice who's finishing up her probationary period who needs to get geared up. We need to repair or replace power cords, tattoo machines, foot switches, clip cords, and all the assorted gear that we use every day. All these things and more that we want and need to do so we can become the first name in tattoos in Shreveport again.

We are not asking for help to move. We're asking for help so we can move right!

Consider it more you're prepaying for your tattoo. Every dollar donated gets you that much off your next piece of artwork!
