Funeral Expenses For Noé Gauna
Donation protected
My father, Noé Gauna, was diagnosed with renal failure, after his body went into diabetic keto acidosis. He was on dialysis, and was not a candidate for a kidney transplant due to his diabetes and other health problems. On April 4, 2017, he was hospitalized, because the PD dialysis access catheter became infected, and caused him to develop peritonitis. During his hospital stay, he got switched to hemodialysis and had a hemodialysis catheter placed, but he got a stroke and aspiration pneumonia shortly after that surgery. He was unable to eat or drink anything after that, and so he had a peg tube placed and was tube-fed. He was transferred to a long term rehabilitation center, where he would receive physical therapy and hemodialysis. The last two months of his life were really hard on him and us, as we were all hoping that he would get better with physical therapy at the rehabilitation center, but that was not to be. On Thursday, August 3, 2017, he was transferred back to the hospital, because he became unresponsive. He was diagnosed with urosepsis and had a white blood count above 30,000. The goal of the hospital stay was to clear the infection so he could go back to the rehabilitation center and resume treatment, but sadly, his body was not strong enough and he passed away on Monday, August 7, 2017. Since both of my parents were on fixed income, the extensive hospital stay and medications depleted what little funds they had. Any donations at this time of need will be greatly appreciated.
