If you know me, the one thing you probably know about me is that I am an artist. If you know me any deeper than that you might know that I was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth. I have contemplated over the years going to college for my art to further my education, and make a career out of it, however it's a hard commitment to make when student loans are crippling my generation. I've always been told that going to school for art is a "waste of time and money" and in some respects it can be, especially when you attend a large institution. I have decided to take my art education in a different route. I have been lucky enough to be a volunteer member at Chapel of Sacred Mirrors in Wappingers Falls, NY for over 2 years now and I have seen the amazing possibilities that the workshops there and at other institutions have to offer. This workshop is the workshop instructed by Amanda Sage. She is an accredited professional artist who tours the world with her art and instructs people in the old style of mischteqnic. These are skills that I have wanted to learn in an education setting since I laid eyes on her work and the works Of her colleagues. She teaches at the Vienna Institute for Visionary Artists, which is my final goal for my art education. I would like to use this workshop as an opportunity to experience the type of art education that I have been longing for. I don't expect everyone to give me their life savings but every dollar would be so helpful in my journey to make myself a better artist, to get out of this rat race and settle into what I've always known to be my final career as a visual artist.
