Teaching in Ghana

Hello! My name is Kirsten! In May of 2014 I will be traveling to Ghana for three weeks to teach elementary school students. This opportunity comes through the organization International Volunteer HQ (IVHQ). IVHQ aims to provide volunteer travelers with quality, flexible, safe and highly affordable volunteering placements in developing countries. In addition to providing aid and assistance to these countries, IVHQ endeavors to increase education and heighten awareness through not only the skills and expertise taken by volunteers to their host communities and institutions, but also through the experiences and lessons volunteers will in turn take back to their own countries and cultures.

During my stay in Ghana, I will be working in the school teaching Math and English to the students from 7:30am-2:30. After classes, the teachers and volunteers stay and help them with their homework or just to hang out and play.

I am reaching out to my friends and family to help raise support for this volunteer opportunity. The total cost is $2,600.00. Any contribution towards the cost of making this trip possible is greatly appreciated! Even if 1/4th of my Facebook friends donated $5, I would be able to make a difference in many young lives.
