48hr endurance run for veteran's medical bills.

Donation protected
Chris is a ex RAF Regiment gunner who is currently dealing with the aftermath of a brain haemorrhage, the original fund to help his family with the crisis is £702 shy of the £25,000 target.

Myself and six other serving gunners are undertaking an endurance run around our RAF base, or at their home locations, each of us will be running 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours, with the aim of raising the final funds to fulfil the target goal.

Coronavirus has set him back as he can no longer be in rehab and he has had to move into his parents home in Liverpool, leaving his young family in London. Chris is the sort of guy that would do anything to help anyone and never ask for anything in return. Any donations would make a significant impact for his young family as the donations will go towards his future rehab sessions and any other bills that will help his family keep him on track.

The challenge starts at 10:00 on Friday the 5th of March and the final four miles of the 48 mile run will finish at 10:00 on Sunday the 7th.

Beneath is a summary of Chris's struggle written by his close friend who set up the original fund.

Per Ardua.

FYI - We will be running in different groups, out doors, away from the public, and with adequate spacings in between us to aid mitigating Covid-19.

Update - Due to the extreme generosity of the donors we hit our target goal in just over 24 hours! so we are going to set a new goal and do out best to raise as much for Chris as we can!

I know so many people all over the world are suffering right now so the timing of this post isnt great, but I need to put this out there and I can only hope that it gets noticed, as one of the greatest lads you could ever meet has been through one of the worst things I have ever seen. Chris Hyland is one of my best mates whom I met when I joined the military back in 2009. He's one of the strongest blokes I've ever met both physically and mentally, finishing top of whatever he did. He has done multiple tours in Afghanistan as a sniper and I never thought anything bad could happen to this guy. I was all set to go and meet up with him and his family on the 28th December, however on Christmas Day I got a phone call from his dad telling me it was all cancelled. On the 23rd December when everyone was getting ready for Christmas Eve, Chris was found lying facedown on the floor at home grabbing the back of his head screaming in pain. He was rushed to A&E where he had a head scan. It showed the worst thing you could've wished for; he'd had a severe bleed on the brain. It was an Arteriovenous Malformation which lead to him being taken to the national hospital for Neurology in Queen Square London where he had drains put into his skull and a number of operations. He was rushed up and down from the intensive care unit over a period of weeks; things were really not looking good for Chris. Now a few months on he is stable and awaiting a couple more operations to get his vision back and stabilise the artery in his head to reduce the chances of this happening again. He has completely lost his short term memory and struggles retaining information: he doesnt know who's been to see him from 1 hour to the next. Things are improving and he has been getting therapy trying to work on this but it's going to be a long slow process. However Coronavirus has set him back as he can no longer be in rehab and has had to move into his parents home in Liverpool, leaving his young family in London. Chris is the sort of guy that would do anything to help anyone and never ask for anything in return. He has the biggest heart you could imagine and that's why I want to do what I can to tell his story and try to get some financial help for his family while he is unable to work. His partner Claire has done amazing with everything that she has been subject to over the past few months keeping their 2 children, Jake and Grace, as happy as they can be. I know it's taking its tole on them physically, mentally and financially, that's why I just want to ask if anyone can donate whatever they can afford and to share this post as far as you can. This family have never asked for anything off anyone in their lives, and have always done whatever they can to help everyone else, so please please please give what you can to help them. If you know Chris then please comment about him and try to reach out to as many people as you can. If you don't know him then please just add some well wishes for him as I know he will read and appreciate every one. Thanks for reading Kind Regards Andrew Holcroft
