Steve DeFoe Medical Bills Fund

Hello, my name is Katie Miller (DeFoe). Many of you know my brother Steve. Maybe it was from Heather Glen, O’banion, or South Garland when he became the first caucasian to step with our amazing step team. Many have given him nick names C-lo, Scuba Steve, etc. He's built a community in Austin and Dallas in the way he's supported friends and family, but also many business, fallen officers, etc. He's been an entertaining and loving bartender and DJ, but a specialist in smile making, art producing, music making, and creating new artist through his own Brush With Greatness parties. Ok easy parts over. It's almost impossible to make this post. This is my big brother and he's been fighting to make a comeback after a hard year. He wasn't feeling well the last few days and yesterday hasn't eaten much. While on the way to work blacked out driving from his Little Elm home. He was lucky and didn't turn into oncoming traffic or a house, but hit a tree first waking slightly to only see his jeep slam into a brick wall. Many rushed to help him and he was right next to a firehouse. So, he was scared in the smoke-filled car and climbed out only to collapse on the concrete and grass. I called all the hospitals and found him. We were sitting in his room when they came in and said my brother broke his L1 vertebrae (sp?) He's not going to be paralyzed, but originally, we were looking at a back-fusion surgery at 100k. UPDATE: 8-8-2017 He was fitted for this ironman like brace and was told after looking at the new scans and x-rays, he will be approved to fore go the fusion surgery! This is huge!! We don't know what to do with the bills that have already accumulated, but he will be in this brace 4 months then physical therapy. He had auto insurance, but no health insurance current. We don't know if the auto insurance will step up or do nothing. As his little sister I'm pleading to you.. if he ever showed you love please consider giving anything. We would greatly appreciate anything you can. If not please send positive energy or pray for him and his recovery. I never thought I'd ever be SO happy to see my big brother's feet move! Let's come together in a movement to help him. He's been there for many of us. Let's show him we won't leave his side and always cheer for Steve! Once we learn what his total bill of all procedures will be I will update the number of need. I know that ambulance rides, multiple scans and x-ray, hospital stay, etc. will add up. I'm keeping this open to try to help Steve not have to worry about financial recovery on top of physical. Bless all of you who visited, donated, or sent out positive energy.
