Care For Kevin

Donation protected

Kevin Albrecht, the family man, the car guy, the honest, caring, fun-loving, always there for you guy... Loved to spend time chatting and caring for all customers who walked through his doors all week long, finishing the week spending quality time with his wife, children and grandchildren at the lakes. He would cook meals large enough for everyone, bakes likes a boss, fish (until his, his wife's or grandchildrens heart's are content), fix anything and everything possible for anyone. Most of all he enjoys spending time at home and/or the lakes with his wife and pets. On Monday, July 24, 2017, this all came to a sudden halt. After having coffee with his wife, he went to get ready for a full day at his shop, Kevin's Car Care. Around 5:30 a.m., he fell out of the shower. He was found unconscious on the floor. Upon arriving via ambulance at Sanford in Fargo, it was determined that he had a massive heart attack, with 100% blockage in his right artery. After cleaning and placing stints in that artery, he was in a coma. Around 3 hours later, he was back in cardiac arrest, suffering yet additional heart attacks. With 80% blockage in one and 75% blockage in the other, both left arteries were cleaned and had stints put in place. Due to the severity of the heart attacks, and the anoxic brain injury (no oxygen/blood flow to the brain) he received a form of hypothermic therapy (cooling of the body) to preserve any brain functions remaining. He remained in a consider state until Friday, July 28, when they began to eliminate the sedation medication completely. Remaining in ICU, he continues to need oxygen, feeding tube and continuous monitoring. He began working with a physical therapist, occupational therapist on Tuesday, August 1, and eventually with a speech therapist. He has said few words to his family members, and has been moving around, and opening his eyes from time to time. As family members remain by his bedside in ICU, every tiny milestone is counted as a miracle. As the family remains with Kevin, the medical bills increase, any donation, monetary or thoughts/prayers are welcomed and appreciated.
