The world has lost one of it's most gentle souls. On August 2nd 2017, Shirley Jeannette Barker Benincasa passed away peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by family. She is lived on by her husband, Dr. Vincent Benincasa, her sister Audrey Carter Thurman, three children Gregory, Natalie, and Emilia, grandchildren Tiffany and Antonia, and her great grandchildren Brianna, Brandon, and Shawn. In addition to the millions of lives she touched. In loving memory of her grandson taken away from us too early, Geoffrey Luke Ferri. We love you always Grandma Shirley. Shirley is in a better place now, and all of her pain is taken away. She is free. Over the past year, Shirley suffered from a few conditions leaving her hospitalized on multiple occasions. In her last days she was in the comfort of hospice. We are blessed with the time we had with her, and that we were given time to spend. She was a gentle, passionate soul with nothing but love to give. In addition to the many costs associated with funeral arrangements, this past weekend's storm hit our family's home where Shirley resided. It left severe flood damage and mold to the family's home. We would love to keep this home in the family in memory of Shirlee and the generations passing... But the costs associated are high, and uncovered by insurance. And in this time, with making arrangements for Shirlee, our dream of keeping this a family home will be hard to keep. In this time of need the Benincasa family is asking for any donation you can make to go towards her burial, funeral costs, and saving our home. Every cent is more than appreciated.
