Help Sweet Pup Get A Healthy Heart!

Update on Skunk Girl: Wendy and the little pup visited the cardiologist today and received a good report! While she will still need open heart surgery, the PDA is considered typical and the doctor is confident that with surgery, she'll live a normal, healthy life. She will have surgery within the next few weeks, and will need a few weeks after that to recover.
While we're happy to receive some good news in this stressful time, the surgery will still be a significant cost for Wendy and her family. We have increased our Go Fund Me goal to $5,000 to cover the cost of the surgery and any follow up procedures that might arise.
This community has already been SO generous, and we only need a little over $1600 to reach that goal.
So for all of you who have donated and shared the post, your generosity is so appreciated. This is an incredible community!

This sweet little corgi pup loves to play, run, and roll over for belly rubs. Unfortunately, without an important (and expensive!) heart surgery, this pup might not be able to play, run, and receive all the belly rubs she deserves! This little pup, nicknamed Skunk Girl, has a PDA or Patent Ductus Arteriosus.In a normal heart, blood from the whole body enters the right side of the heart and is pumped into the lungs via the pulmonary artery. After receiving oxygen in the lungs this blood returns to the left side of the heart and is then pumped into the whole body via the aorta. Before birth, since the lungs are not yet working, the ductus arteriosus has the important function of diverting most of the blood from the pulmonary artery into the aorta. Shortly after birth the ductus arteriosus should close completely to direct all the blood coming from the right side of the heart through the lungs before returning to the heart. In some dogs closure of the ductus arteriosus does not occur or is incomplete and so they have a patent ductus arteriosus (PDA). PDA must be closed before irreparable damage is suffered by the heart. Without surgery, this little pup faces heart failure. Wendy goes above and beyond in caring for her dogs. In a routine vet visit, this issue was discovered and Wendy immediately contacted a cardiologist to schedule the surgery. While some others might decide a puppy is not worth the expense, Wendy refuses to give up on the little girl and will work tirelessly to give her the best life possible. This surgery is very expensive, and this is something that has happened too frequently for Wendy over the past few months. While she would never ask for the help, we're hoping the corgi community will rally behind a person who is relentless in her efforts to preserve the breed and help wonderful puppies get into wonderful homes.Our little pup needs this surgery to save her life and let her continue being her sweet corgi self!
