Early Sunday morning, August 18, 2013, David DeMarco, was involved in a pedestrian/auto accident. He was hit by a Dodge Caravan cab while walking in the crosswalk at Newport Blvd and 17th St. in Costa Mesa. He was thrown 100 feet and sustained life threatening injuries "“ thoracic aorta rupture (according to the doctors no one survives this type of rupture), compound fracture in his upper left arm, a hole in the diaphragm and his stomach was pushed into his chest cavity, a tear in the liver, both knees are dislocated (three of the four ligaments are gone), spinal fractures in his neck and lower lumbar area and a small fracture on his right ankle.

David has already had several surgeries since the accident, and still has more to come. This is a hard time for him because he is a very outgoing and active man.

This vibrant man is an assistant coach for the Santa Ana Dons. He was looking forward to the new season, as he had a new assignment "“ coaching the running backs. David is also a substitute Instructional Assistant for Special Education in the GGUSD. He was offered a permanent assignment the Tuesday after his accident. David is also a personal trainer and was going to be working at 24 Hour Fitness.

Please pray for David as he has a long road ahead.
