I'm excited to let you know that I have the opportunity to return to
Belize, Central America on a short-term mission trip this coming November 7-14, through my church John
Knox Presbyterian. This opportunity will be a challenging one because I've been asked to help lead the team this year and also because I will be returning without my family.
As many of you know, last year our family had the privilege of being a part of this mission trip and it was an amazing experience. Wanting to build upon the work that God has done both in our lives and the lives of the church we worked with down in Belize, our team will be serving the community of Orange Walk. We will be doing construction projects at the church and at individual's homes, an after-school children's program, and helping with evening church services.
Belize is a country with fantastic people who have numerous needs. If you get past the beaches, you will find rampant poverty, unemployment and substance abuse, broken families, unwanted kids, and many people for whom life is a terrific struggle. Yet God is providing for these people through the local church with our assistance.
We are all excited about continuing the work and relationships built last year, but as you know a trip like this just doesn't happen. It takes much planning, prayer, faith, resources, and more prayer. I'm asking you to support me in this endeavor by either praying for us, supporting me financially, or both! We need it. The total cost is $1550.
If you would like to support this mission trip, you can do so in one of two ways:
1. You can donate directly through this website.
2. If you would like your contribution to be tax deductible, you can send a check made out to John Knox Presbyterian Church (109 SW Normandy Rd, Seattle, WA 98166) with Belize II Mission Trip written on the memo line. As long as my name does not appear on the check, your contribution is tax deductible and a receipt will be sent to you for tax purposes. Please attach a sticky note to the check with my name on it to help the church office designate the funds properly.
