Rocky (Kobayashi/Seasa Plenty was born 12.30 am 29 October 3.5 weeks early. Try as he might, he was too weak to stand. Tony at Hazelwood Stud Southbrook Queensland Australia hand fed him through the night and the vet came early the same morning. Rocky needed urgent intensive care treatment if he had any chance of survival.
Rocky and his mum Seasa Plenty (Nicconi) were floated to Darling Downs Vet.
Rocky was put under lights to increase his body temperature and his initial bloods showed he needed glucose and plasma.
The vet called to explain his condition and the costs involved to treat him in intensive care. All of us owners agreed to do what we could to save Rocky.
A fluid lump was discovered under Rocky’s skin and getting larger. Rocky had a tear in his bladder. Not a common issue but the vet said it would have occurred during the birth process. He was operated on to seal the tear.
