Medical Bills Are Not Awesome.

It isn't particularly in my nature to ask for help, especially when it comes to money. However, I have found myself buried in medical bills from the past year and I don't have the means to even begin chipping away at them. A bit of backstory: I have suffered from chronic pancreatitis for a number of years, and last April it reached a point where I could no longer avoid seeking medical care. A visit to the ER landed me in the hospital for a week, during which time I had a procedure to place stents in my pancreas in an attempt to drain fluids from a very large cyst that was discovered after a CT scan. While that was marginally successful more procedures to remove/insert stents were unavoidable. Over the next year I underwent 3 more procedures with varying levels of success and two more hospital stays; one for two days and another for five. This has resulted in a mountain of medical bills and missed work. I do, thankfully, have medical insurance that covered a great deal of the expense, but my responsibility for these procedures and hospital visits has reached a sum of around $8,000. I am launching this campaign in the hopes of beginning to chip away at some of these bills, and at least getting them down to a point where they are more manageable. I am sick to death (pun intended?) of losing sleep worrying about this debt. I desperately want to get back on track with living, and it's nearly impossible with this burden on me.
