Hudson's Fight against Cancer

Donation protected
Hello all.  My name is Sunitha Thomas.  Jennifer Stavrou and I have been friends since we were 8 years old and our friendship has only grown stronger over the many decades we have known each other.  Jen is literally the sister I never had.

In August of 2015, on one of our many daily phone calls, Jen told me about a swollen lymph node on her son Hudson's neck.  After several visits to the doctor and a round of heavy duty antibiotics, the swelling in the lymph node did not go away.  In September, under the advice of doctors, Hudson underwent surgery to have the lymph node removed for biopsy.  It took several weeks and four pathology labs before Jennifer and Harry were given his diagnosis - Stage 2 Nodular Lymphocyte-Predominant Hodgkins Lymphoma ("NLPHL").  NLPHL is a rare form of Hodgkins Lymphoma typically found it teens.  It tends to grow slowly, so treatment is usually very successful.  After his diagnosis, Jen had to resign from her teaching job to care for Hudson during his illness as he would need round-the-clock care.

Two days after his 6th birthday, Hudson had a PICC line put in his left arm.  He was able to start chemo the next day - and was brave and strong through every session! After two months of treatment, Hudson's oncologist called with some wonderful news - he was officially in remission!

Over the next few weeks, Hudson will slowly transition back to kindergarten where his twin sister Olivia and all of his friends have been keeping his seat warm, while patiently awaiting his return. The goal is to have him back in school full-time by the end of February.

Although the nightmare that is cancer is over, Hudson will have to be watched very closely his entire life to ensure the cancer does not return.  This means hospital visits, blood work, ultrasounds, specialist appointments, scans, etc. every 1 to 3 months for the first three years. After that, Hudson will be watched every six months for two years and then once a year for the rest of his life.

For Hudson’s parents, 5 months of medical bills and future medical bills are now in the forefront.  Please take a moment to consider the struggle this family has endured.  Hudson and his family could really use our support!  Any amount can help them.  Please share this with your friends and family.

Thank you for your time and help with this matter.
