John was in a pretty serious ATV accident yesterday and has quite a road of recovery ahead of him. If you can help him and his beautiful girls at all, it would be greatly appreciated. Anything helps! Here's the most recent update from John's family:
A little update : Surgery was a success. The purpose of the surgery was to stabilize the vertebrae for purposes of transfer to Pittsburgh or so he can be turned. He has a plate/graft in the spinal cord now. A vertebrae chip the size of a pea went into the cord. Looking ahead--regulating temp and BP. Next 48 hours critical. Probably a month in ICU. Whatever insurance will cover for spinal cord rehab. Probably 2 years of recovery. Possibly 2 more surgeries if 1) he can't hold his head up, and then he'd need more head/trunk support with screws and bolts in his head 2) his lacerations are bad, and might need some extensive work to sew him up (on head) 2 praises: 1) NO brain trauma 2) vent is already out--normally patients in his case are trached. Thank you all so much for your prayers and concerns! They are greatly appreciated! We will be just going day by day for a little while but getting little bits of positives which is a great thing!
