Help For Aleigha's Medical Bills

On February 4th, Aleigha went to the hospital following a seizure and during that visit it was discovered through an MRI that she had a brain tumor. After traveling back to North Carolina with her family, she had a successful surgery to remove the tumor on February 16th, which they were almost certain was benign. During her follow-up on February 28th, her and her family were given the difficult news that the tumor was, in fact, malignant astroblastoma: a tumor so rare that the clinic had only seen three previous cases. Following this news, Aleigha went through six weeks of chemotherapy and radiation treatments. A clear MRI showed that the treatments were successful and Aleigha has been cleared to return back to the University of Alabama to continue to pursue her Masters in Public Administration. However, before she can register for classes she is required to pay an outstanding medical bill to the university. She will also be required to travel to North Carolina every two months for scheduled MRI’s. During Aleigha’s treatments, she was unable to work and her mother took a leave of absence from work to become her primary caregiver. We are asking for help for Aleigha to be able to continue pursing her degree, as well as be able to travel to ensure that she continues to receive the best medical care possible.
