Family loses house in Southern Oregon fire

Please Help the Portschy Family. Victims of the Almeda Fire that swept through Phoenix and Talent, Oregon
Our sister Kyra and her daughter Tigerlily lost virtually everything in a devastating fire on Tuesday. They were among the 600 families who lost their homes in the small town of Talent, between Medford and Ashland in Southern Oregon.
The ferocious Almeda fire decimated much of the area, complete neighborhoods were lost, including the apartment building where Kyra, Tigerlily and their 3 cats and 1 dog have called home for 10+ years.
Due to high winds, the fire spread quickly and they were forced to evacuate with very little notice. They scooped up their pets and escaped with just the clothes they were wearing and little else. The rest of their belongings were reduced to ash. Literally, everything was lost!
Thankfully, they made it out safely and are staying with family and friends. Where to even begin? They will need to rebuild their lives. Truly heartbreaking for everyone touched by this devastating fire.
Kyra is not able to work due to a permanent disability and has raised her now 12 year old daughter on her own on a very limited income. Once the fire subsides, they will have short-term housing costs while they look for another apartment to rent. If you’ve ever rented, you know about the large upfront costs: first month’s rent, security deposits, pet deposits, fees to get utilities set up and more. Once they find a new place, they will need everything: clothes, furniture, kitchen items, you name it, they will need it.
Because of their limited income, they have always been very thrifty, often buying used items to make their meek income stretch to the end of the month, so please know that any donation you make to the Portschy family will be spent wisely. 100% of all proceeds will go towards Kyra and her family. Please, even $10 or $25, whatever you can give, will make such a difference in getting them back on their feet soon. Thank you!
