Devons New Kidney

Donation protected
Hey y'all, I wanted to share a story of my nephew and his struggle with his kidney. About a year and a half ago Devon, my nephew was living the dream. Done with high school, ready for the world when he was diagnosed with a kidney disorder that requires a kidney transplant. His Mom, Tressa describes Devon as a healthy kid, one that really had nothing seriously wrong with him his whole life. Then on the 20th of December he told his mom he had to go to the hospital. They went, barely walking inside, weak but still joking with the doctors. After a series of test, docs said his results were interesting.

Not good.

His organs where shutting down as he lost 4 pints of blood. Where was the blood. What had happened. Doc gave him a diagnosis of complete kidney failure. Unreal. Complete shock for Devon which made him hyperventilate and ended up in medically induced coma. Christmas Eve he woke up. Imagine what you would be thinking.

What would you do. How would you react. Yea not Devon, once he had the energy he was back to his happy nature. His grandpa and mother remember how thankful he was that he had visitors. Telling them they really didn't have to come.

What a kid. What a response. He deserves some help. He needs a kidney.

I thought I'm pretty sure I have two. I can live with one. I thought what if I might match. It took a year and another coma for me to start the testing. Five months of tests and a match.

My family, Samira, Jayla, Ohla the dog and I have made the decision to help Devon. I have decided to give my kidney to a kid that deserves it.

I am not sure how the surgery will go. What the results will be. How we will react. I do know that if we don't try then we won't know. I do know that today I can help him possibly get off dialysis and try to help resume a semi normal life. I don't know if I'll ever need it but what I do know is that I choose to help.

This page is help Devon with the cost of a donation, lost wages, Med's etc.
