Cliff Matthews Cancer Treatment

Cliff and Kara Matthews are a young couple in their 30's. Cliff has been diagnosed with very aggressive renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer). They need help paying for Cliff's medical expenses. Kara has a good job but her salary doesn't cover all their expenses, especially now with medical expenses added in. Please help in any way that you can. 

The Diagnosis:

Cliff hadn't been feeling well since January of 2017 and had visited several doctors who treated him with antibiotics. After 4 months of him showing no signs of recovery, they finally ran a CBC test that showed extremely low blood count signifying anemia. They then did a CT scan and found tumors in his kidney, liver, and lungs. After a biopsy, the doctors confirmed that it is a very aggressive form of cancer. He will have a very hard road to travel to try to beat this.

Treatment Thus Far:

In June, they removed his left kidney that contained a large tumor measured at 12.5cm in diameter. He was still extremely anemic, so recovery from that surgery was very slow.

In July,  he had surgery to remove a portion of his liver that contained 2 more tumors. The photo above was taken right before going into the operating room. After he recovers from this most recent surgery, the doctors will determine what treatment plans he will undergo as well as a plan for his lungs. They will also send his medical records to MD Anderson Hospital in Houston to see if he can or should be treated there. 

Cliff does have insurance but with deductibles, co-pays, lost wages, travel for appointments, prescription expenses, they are already overwhelmed. Please help! 

Their Background:

Cliff and Kara met in college and they both graduated as bachelors of art from Texas State University in San Marcos, TX. They have been working hard to repay their student loans and save for a house. Finally, in 2015, they were able to buy a 1970's fixer-upper. They have done all the work themselves, removing worn-out carpet and vinyl flooring, patching and painting walls and cabinets. They have 2 rooms finished, the guest room and the guest bath. The remaining rooms have bare concrete floors. And the master bath is missing the tub/shower.

I tell you this to say that they are hardworking and used to doing everything themselves.  They have been hesitant to ask for donations, feeling they should bear this by themselves. But now they realize they need help. Prayers are very much appreciated too!
