Help Cathy Find Her Way Home

There’s No Place Like Home Until It’s Gone…….

Cathy is a 65 year-old nurse who has been diligently searching for a nursing job while desperately trying to save her home. After a serious accident sidelined her in 2014, she suffered multiple blood clots, including DVT’s and pulmonary emboli plus life-threatening problems with an IVC filter which was removed once it blocked the venous entry to her heart. Even though she is currently clot free, the side effects of blood thinners continue to plague her. On top of that, blood tests revealed that she has a rare clotting disorder which requires lifetime treatment and follow up. These medications have resulted in horrendous medical bills affecting her ability to maintain her home. All this aside, Cathy is the ultimate Warrior Nurse, determined to give her best attitude and efforts to her patients.
While Cathy is currently receiving some social security, it is not sufficient to cover her mortgage and HOA dues plus utilities. Cathy would love to keep the home she has owned for 32 years, but she is realistic enough to understand that her finances won’t permit her remaining there. She filed Chapter 13for a stay against a foreclosure sale while a short sale was processed and approved. Nonetheless, the mortgage company and attorneys conducted a foreclosure sale auction on her home the morning of June 15, 2017, despite having an approved contract for a short sale. Cathy exhausted all possibilities to save the home she owned for many years.
Thus, Cathy needs to find alternate housing before July 28, or go to a homeless shelter. She will lose her beautiful cats who are her only family unless she can find some temporary assistance for rent.
To secure an affordable rental, plus moving expenses, Cathy will need to raise $4,000 by end of July. Cathy does not own a car, so it is imperative to find movers who can help with packing and moving expenses. Funds will be raised via GoFundMe. Any donations you can make on this site will be gratefully received. In addition, if you have friends who can also contribute please encourage them to do so.
Cathy is working hard to help herself financially, but a helping hand from wonderful friends can turn these frightening circumstances into a happy ending. Thanks so much for helping Cathy rise above and beyond this dire situation into a safe and cozy apartment for her and her kitties, Carlos and Sylvester.
We will keep you updated on this campaign.
