Ellie Mae's Medical Bills

Donation protected
It all started two weeks ago when Ellie Mae collapsed on a walk. She had three episodes in 11 days. We made two trips to the emergency vet because the episodes happened after hours. The vet thought that they were heart episodes and referred us to a cardiologist. The cardiologist found nothing wrong with her heart except a heart murmur and suggested that these were petit mal seizures. She also found a bladder infection and prescribed antibiotics. Turns out, she was correct and two days later the petit mals progressed into grand mal seizures. Ellie Mae had four seizures in two hours so we made our third trip to the emergency vet. The vet discovered her blood sugar was extremely low and suspected it was due to the seizures. She stayed overnight and they sent her home in the morning with anti-seizure medicine and a referral to a neurologist. Ellie Mae slept like the dead all day. In the evening I couldn't rouse her. I called the emergency vet and they said to bring her back so her blood sugar could be tested. Her blood sugar was very low again. They now think the seizures were caused by low blood sugar, not the other way around. Today, instead of a neurologist, we saw an internist who looked for, but could not find, a cancerous tumor called an insulinoma. Apparently they can be tiny and are very hard to see. They also took blood and sent it away to check for two other diseases. If those come back negative, the next step is to possibly do exploratory surgery to look for the tumor that the internist suspects. So, the bills so far total $2,907.45 and I still don't know what is wrong with my dog. We have gone to the emergency vet four times, the cardiologist once, and the internist once. She is off the anti-seizure medicine and on steroids to help with the low blood sugar. I also need to feed her small meals every 3 to 4 hours including the middle of the night. We will also need to see her regular vet to recheck her urine to see if the antibiotics have cured the bladder infection. Ellie Mae has already survived so much: kept in a cage, many, many litters of puppies, being homeless, starvation, mange, heartworms, warts due to a failing immune system, temporary deafness, transvaginal tumor, mast cell tumors, other cancerous tumors, other benign tumors, allergies, skin infections, and now this. Despite everything, she is the happiest, most loving dog I have known. Will you help me give her another chance at life? I work for myself and don't have a lot of money. If you can spare anything to help pay for her bills and continued care, I will be forever grateful! Thank you for your time!
