The Barbara Green Memorial Fund

The Life & Legacy of Barbara A. Green (1936-2015) Barbara A. Green was born and raised in East Baltimore and educated in the Baltimore City public school system. As a young wife and mother, she became an activist for children's education. Her advocacy for excellence in public education led her into city politics and public affairs, and as a result, she developed a strong commitment to improving the Baltimore City community at large. In loving memory of Barbara’s legacy of love for youth and the Baltimore City community, Threshold, Inc. established the Threshold, Inc. Barbara A. Green Scholarship fund in partnership with the University of Baltimore to benefit inner-city youth who apply to the University. To provide support for the scholarship fund and the Cecil Kirk Athletic Council, a Memorial golf tournament fundraiser was established. The proceeds from the 1st annual Barbara A. Green Memorial Golf Tournament, held on September 16, 2016, succeeded in continuing Barbara’s legacy of assisting city youth for years to come. Sponsors for the inaugural year included The Jonathan Melnick Group, Threshold, Inc., and the University of Baltimore among others. Plans for the 2nd annual Barbara A. Green Memorial Golf Tournament are underway and scheduled to be held this year on September 20, 2017. The tournament will feature contests for the longest drive and closest to pin, a 50/50 raffle, and giveaways. Sponsors are needed to make this year's event and charitable causes a success.
