Medical Mission Trip to Guatemala!

Dear Family and Friends:

I'll be starting my final year in the nursing program at Concordia University Texas - Austin. This program has provided me the tools I need to strengthen my skills as a nurse over the past few years. It's been a long time coming, but I'm almost officially a nurse!!! I've always had the passion to help people - nothing feels more rewarding to me than brightening a patients day just by listening to what they have to say or providing them with what they need to keep them comfortable at the hospital. Becoming a nurse is not just about giving patients what they need, but understanding where they're coming from and putting yourself in their shoes. May 4 - 10 of 2014, I've been given the wonderful opportunity to go on a Medical Mission Trip to Guatemala with my fellow nursing students. I'll be able to apply the skills I have learned in class with the community of a medically under-served area in the developing world. I'll be able to provide the knowledge, resources, and tools I've learned over the years to influence these less fortunate people so they may learn and adapt their own health care system. I feel that the most important part of this trip is bonding with the culture and community, making me a better and well-rounded nurse that I strive to be. My passion is the driving force to all my life's success, and I need your help to fulfill this great opportunity in my life!
