Stage 4 Lung And Kidney Cancer

​ ​My names Xochitl Perez, we​ ​recently​ ​learned​ ​my​ ​dad​ ​has​ ​stage 4​ ​metastatic​ ​colon​ ​cancer,​ ​to​ ​our​ ​horror,​ ​the​ ​oncologist​ ​said​ ​it​ ​has​ ​now spread​ ​and​ ​predicts​ ​he​ ​only​ ​has​ ​a​ ​few​ ​months​ ​left​ ​with​ ​us.​ ​The​ ​doctor suggested​ ​we​ ​do​ ​chemotherapy,​ ​as​ ​this​ ​would​ ​guarantee​ ​my​ ​dad’s​ ​time with​ ​us​ ​would​ ​be​ ​longer. My​ ​dad’s​ ​positive​ ​attitude​ ​continues​ ​to​ ​this​ ​day,​ ​despite​ ​the​ ​fight​ ​he​ ​and​ ​our family​ ​is​ ​facing,​ ​he​ ​remains​ ​hopeful.​ ​Before​ ​cancer,​ ​my​ ​dad’s​ ​favorite pastime​ ​was​ ​singing​ ​karaoke​ ​with​ ​family​ ​and​ ​friends,​ ​his​ ​voice​ ​was amazing!​ ​He​ ​loved​ ​to​ ​cook,​ ​especially​ ​Mariscos​ ​(Mexican​ ​seafood),​ ​and play​ ​non-stop​ ​with​ ​his​ ​two​ ​grandchildren,​ ​Alex​ ​(5)​ ​and​ ​Vanessa​ ​(10).​ ​Now, doing​ ​day​ ​to​ ​day​ ​tasks​ ​are​ ​becoming​ ​more​ ​difficult,​ ​as​ ​pain​ ​is​ ​taking​ ​over his​ ​body​ ​and​ ​he​ ​is​ ​becoming​ ​weaker​ ​and​ ​weaker. Before​ ​this​ ​horrible​ ​disease​ ​plagued​ ​our​ ​family,​ ​my​ ​dad​ ​migrated​ ​to​ ​the United​ ​States​ ​in​ ​hopes​ ​of​ ​finding​ ​a​ ​good​ ​job​ ​and​ ​starting​ ​a​ ​family.​ ​Since before​ ​I​ ​was​ ​born,​ ​my​ ​dad​ ​used​ ​to​ ​help​ ​lay​ ​the​ ​foundation​ ​for​ ​outdoor​ ​pools in​ ​the​ ​Arizona​ ​summer,​ ​he​ ​was​ ​the​ ​main​ ​bread​ ​winner​ ​for​ ​our​ ​family​ ​and was​ ​full​ ​of​ ​energy.​ ​Now​ ​my​ ​dad​ ​is​ ​too​ ​weak​ ​to​ ​work,​ ​leaving​ ​my​ ​mom​ ​to pick​ ​up​ ​extra​ ​shifts​ ​and​ ​working​ ​doubles​ ​to​ ​make​ ​ends​ ​meet​ ​on​ ​top​ ​of paying​ ​for​ ​thousands​ ​upon​ ​thousands​ ​of​ ​dollars​ ​in​ ​medical​ ​bills.​ ​I​ ​help​ ​my mom​ ​work​ ​as​ ​well,​ ​but​ ​it​ ​simply​ ​does​ ​not​ ​cover​ ​the​ ​medical​ ​cost.Your​ ​moving​ ​contribution​ ​would​ ​help​ ​our​ ​family​ ​in​ ​ways​ ​unimaginable​ ​by helping​ ​us​ ​get​ ​my​ ​dad​ ​the​ ​medication​ ​he​ ​needs​ ​to​ ​make​ ​him​ ​comfortable and​ ​help​ ​him​ ​fight.​
