Sara's Road

This woman. This woman is one of my dearest friends. This woman lives her life for others. This woman is also fighting for her life.

In April of this year, my friend, Sara, was diagnosed with a very aggressive triple-negative breast cancer. She has a rare form of cancer that does not respond like “typical cancers.” Sara is undergoing chemotherapy right now and the doctors need to keep switching the “chemo cocktail” because the tumor is not responding as hoped.

Let me tell you a little about my friend. Sara has two boys. They are the joy of her life and the three of them have such a wonderful bond – namely because they have been through so much together.

Sara and her boys had to leave in the middle of the night from a very abusive marriage. They left everything they had and started again. They were together, but they had nothing – not even a place to live.

Sara then turned that unfortunate situation into something good. After getting back on her feet, she started an animal rescue called Traveling Hearts Pet Care and Rescue, a rescue and pet-sitting service in which Sara cares for the animals as if they are her own, and she started a non-profit organization to help homeless teens known as T.H.U.G. Life. As if this wasn’t enough, Sara is also a PATH certified therapeutic horseback riding instructor for Courage Kenny Riders and Limitless Riders. Her life is all about helping others!

And now, I am asking all of you to help Sara. In just four short months, Sara has gone through so much, and she still has a long road ahead of her that includes chemotherapy, radiation, and multiple surgeries.

The doctors have insisted that Sara needs to stop working so that her body can tolerate treatment better. However, Sara is the sole income provider for her family. She cannot pay any bills if she does not work.

I am asking you to come alongside Sara and together we can show her that she is not alone on this difficult road. We may not be able to take away her cancer, but together we can take away the financial burden that cancer brings. Thank you all! You are greatly appreciated and needed. - Monica
