Marine Veteran In Motorcycle Crash

Our brother, Jeremiah (Jay) Rivera, needs all the support that he can get. In the early morning hours of July 13th, Jeremiah was involved in a motorcycle accident in Cape Coral, FL. He had no alcohol or drugs in his system. Jeremiah is a decorated Marine Combat Veteran who has always cared about others more then himself. He was brought to the hospital in Fort Myers and is being treated extremely well. So far,  all we know is that his femur is broken in 2 places, and his hand is also severly injured. Both of these injuries require immediate surgery.  He is also covered in cuts and contusions, as well as other injuries. He is having surgery today, but unfortunately, the hospital will tell us very little, as we are not blood relatives.

Jay is from Maryland originally, and has made a wonderful life here in Florida. He has always brought an abundant amount of light and happiness to everyone he meets. The problem is, The VA will only cover so much of his medical bills(at least that is what I have been told so far), but many other things will come of this that will not be covered. He works a full time job, which he will now be unable to do for (according to the Doctors), at least 6 months. Unfortunately like most,  he has rent, food, and other essential expenses that he is responible for which he will get no assistance for. He will also have many orthopedic rehabilitation therapies that may not be covered by the VA. Plus the damage to his bike, which insurance may not cover, and alternate form of transportation to (what I'm sure will be) a lot of future appointments. He is an amazing son, brother, uncle, Marine, and friend.

Jay deserves to have the ability to focus on his recovery and getting back to a normal life. Trying to survive without work or a safety net will be more than a challenge for this Marine Veteran who put his life on the line to keep us safe at night. Anyone willing to help, we thank you in advance.
