Magda Niedzwiedz passed away on Sunday 9th July, finally succumbing to her life long struggle with Motor Neuron Disease. In her final years, she became totally dependent on others for her every need.
As her MND progressed, she was unable to get out of bed, raise a glass of water to her mouth, or go to the bathroom on her own. She lived at home right to the end, with family taking on most of the care responsibilities. An invaluable resource in this process was the Respite Care services provided by the wonderful people of Ventilator Accommodation Support Services in Thornbury, Victoria.
Their website even has a testimonial from Magda: “The VASS team supported me to do so much more than I thought was possible for someone with motor neuron disease (MND). Now I have somewhere to stay that’s as good as home. I love it!”
