In Honour Of Magdalena Niedzwiedz

Magda Niedzwiedz passed away on Sunday 9th July, finally succumbing to her life long struggle with Motor Neuron Disease. In her final years, she became totally dependent on others for her every need.

As her MND progressed, she was unable to get out of bed, raise a glass of water to her mouth, or go to the bathroom on her own. She lived at home right to the end, with family taking on most of the care responsibilities. An invaluable resource in this process was the Respite Care services provided by the wonderful people of Ventilator Accommodation Support Services in Thornbury, Victoria.

Their website even has a testimonial from Magda: “The VASS team supported me to do so much more than I thought was possible for someone with motor neuron disease (MND). Now I have somewhere to stay that’s as good as home. I love it!”

Magda's family is kindly requesting that in lieu of a floral tribute for her and her funeral, you instead consider a donation to this amazing service. Further details of their services are listed in this fact sheet:

As we wish all funds to go directly to the Thornbury house, we have created this campaign, rather than utilising their regular online donation process on VASS's parent companies website,
